Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae Double Bill featuring 8 piece band Trojan Horses and The SG’s.
Trojan Horses are an eight (sometimes nine) piece ska and rocksteady band from Hertfordshire. The group - which has acquired a growing following since appearing on the Herts music scene almost a decade ago – plays a mix of classic Jamaican tunes from the 60s and 70s as well as a number of originals. Influences include Phyllis Dillon, The Heptones, Dandy Livingstone Toots & The Maytals and Alton Ellis.
The SGs
For the past few years, The SGs have been delivering a rich mix of danceable and uplifting reggae to a range of events and a variety of appreciative crowds.
Playing mostly original material, with a few sweetly interpreted covers thrown in for good measure, the SGs have brought the traditional reggae emphasis on social awareness, love, joy and struggle to festivals (Balstock, Strawberry Fair, Sandon Fields, Maidstone Ska Festival etc) and to pubs and clubs.
The band have supported acts such as Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Gentleman’s Dub Club, The Dualers, The Marley Experience and Jah Wobble.
Roots reggae stylings, with a sprinkling of ska and rocksteady and an infusion of lovers rock – top-drawer musicianship alongside a combination of melodic rhythms, heartfelt lyrics and powerful vocals – that’s the flavour of an SGs set.
Delivered every time with love and infectious enthusiasm – Rise Up!
